Youth News…
Today we celebrate confirmation! This is the day that many students in our church make their own decision to "belong" to us, the group of people who long ago in their baptism chose to belong to each of them. It's a very exciting time for our community of faith and we want to honor the momentum by forming a youth group. Do you think you may be interested in working with our youth? In other words, do you think you would want to develop relationships with students? Are you interested in organizing events and mission trips? If so, we'd like you to join us after Feed the Children this coming Friday, May 16. Feed the Children begins at 6:00pm, for directions call Mike Marigliano. We're done a bit before 8:00pm and we (adults and students) will gather to discuss future plans over snacks. If interested, please see Deb Self. Come one, come all!

Mark your calendars:
Youth Sunday, June 1
Faith day at Six Flags, June 7

Book Discussion:
Amish Grace by Donald Kraybill, Steven Nolt, and David Weaver-Zercher. Friday, May 30, 7:00pm at the Luddecke's home (439 George's Road, Dayton). We've been discussing forgiveness this past season of Easter. Let's keep the discussion going. This book explores the tragic shooting in the Amish community in October 2006 and the community's radical response of forgiveness.

Family Movie Afternoon
The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian.
Sunday, May 18th 3:45pm
At Regal Cinema
Adults: $10, Child: $7
If you want to reserve your tickets, see Sandy Chmielewski during fellowship time. We will pre-purchase tickets to avoid the rush of opening weekend!

Spotlight on Mission - today we begin our focus on two of the many outreach projects that we support in our church. The Outreach Commission thought it a good idea to help everyone become more aware of the mission activities we give to throughout the year. In May we are highlighting two outreach ministries: our own Ross Uhrich spent his spring break from college building houses for Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans. We are also supporting the PCUSA outreach ministry Long Term Self-Development for Areas Affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Take a look at this Spotlight on Mission as you visit friends during coffee hour following worship.

GETTING CONNECTED SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR ALL AGES ~ Our Sunday School program reflects our commitment to families and the importance of reflecting on how our faith intersects with real life. Join us!

Children ~
Preschool through Grade 2: Following the children's chat, these children are invited with a loving adult to explore faith together.

Grade 2 through 6: At 11:00am in the children's classroom, our children will explore faith through kid-friendly, multi-media workshops, like art, science, games, movies and cooking.

Grade 7 through 12: Confirmation Class is confirmed today!

Adults ~
We gather to discuss various topics that reflect questions of faith and life. For May 18 and 25, join us for a discussion about, "Discerning what God is doing: A study of Acts."

SMALL GROUPS ~ A fantastic, informal way to get to know people and discuss interesting topics. For more information, call the church office.
· Monday Evenings Bible Study: 2nd and 4th Monday of the month at 7:30pm in homes. They are discussing Creation and Evolution. If interested, contact Jean Golcheski.
· Monday Evenings Bible study: 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month at 6:30pm at the church. We will begin our studies with the Acts of the Apostles. If interested, contact Phyl Richardson.
· Tuesday Evenings Contemporary Issues: 1st two Tuesdays of the month at 7:30pm in homes. If interested, contact Donna Hollenbach. For the month of May, we will be viewing the DVD "The Bible Tells Me So," unveiling some of the misunderstanding about what the Bible says or doesn't say about homosexuality.
· Wednesday Afternoon Women's Bible Study: They meet weekly at 1:00pm in homes. Currently they are studying a book entitled "When Faith is all you have" based on Hebrews 11. If interested, contact Vivian Paulus.

SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES ~ There are many weekly opportunities to get involved in the life and ministry of our church.

Franklin Care Center ~ The first Sunday of the month, we provide a short worship service for the residents at the Franklin Convalescent Center (corner of Rt. 27 and Sand Hills Road). By singing alongside one another, offering a caring hand, and compassionate smile, we extend the love of our community of faith across the street.

Quilts for Kids! ~ Our community of faith participates with an organization that creates quilts out of discontinued fabrics. No experience is necessary!!! Show up at 10:00am on the first Saturday of the month, enjoy good company and you'll be surprised at the beautiful, warm gift that you can make for a child who is ill or has experienced abuse.

Food Bank Collection ~ Every first Sunday of the month, we collect for the South Brunswick Food Pantry. For the month of May is Personal Needs Products Month. Examples are toothpaste, shampoo, razors, soap, and feminine hygiene products.

Feed the Children ~ Join our participation in the war against hunger the third Friday of the month at 6:00pm at the Feed the Children warehouse located at 111 Corporate Road, North Brunswick. For more information, contact Mike Marigliano.

ISI Monthly Friendship Dinners ~ International students and friends from local churches will come together the third Friday of the month for a time of fellowship and delicious food. The dinner starts at 6:00pm and is located at the Lutheran Messiah Church on Nassau Street in Princeton.

Church Commissions meet monthly. Our church is organized around "commissions" or groups of people that initiate, organize and execute various ministry aspects of our community of faith. Each commission is listed at the end of the bulletin with their corresponding elders. Call the church office for more information.
