stumbled upon
Miracle Trail.

Did you know

for nerds… and I’ll be honest, I’m mostly a nerd.

The remnants of a storm that boasted 200
miles/hour winds, 6 inches of accumulated rain, three days without power
and for some three days without school… lay at the edge of our property
on Sand Hills Road. It’s the largest pile of brokenness I’ve ever seen
in my life.

Recently I have been realizing how
infrequently I stop to
take a deep breath. Think about it, how
often do we take a moment in our day to breathe in and feel space
growing in
our chests? Even making the space for life in our own bodies seems all
too
rare. I think this is partially because the emptiness seems alarming. We
often avoid
emptiness: empty time, vacant space, silence. Maybe we are worried if we
stop,
emptiness will overwhelm us.

If God lives within us, how do

It's New Year’s Eve and
there’s going to be a blue moon tonight.
Apparently there was an extra moon cycle in 2009 and that extra moon is
called a "blue moon” and it happens… once in a blue moon.

They say “it's darkest before the dawn ” and yet as
I look out the window, wrapped in a blanket, with a cup of coffee in my hand, I
beg to differ.
